Vattenfall Europe Innovation GmbH(following Vattenfall Innovation) is part of the Business Development activities within the Business Unit Renewables in Vattenfall Continental (which in turn is 100% state owned by the Swedish state) and located in Hamburg, Germany which currently 10 employees. Vattenfall Innovation’s mission is to identify, develop and develop business opportunities for renewable generation and its integration.
Vattenfall Innovation is engaged in projects such as e-mobility charging infrastructure, storage applications with batteries and hydrogen, as well as in smart grid and demand response activities. During our involvement in e-mobility activities and the hydrogen stations Hummelsbüttel (Hy:fleet:CUTE) and HafenCity (German NIP program) Vattenfall Innovation gathered valuable insights in operation of charging respectively fuelling unfrastructure and generation of hydrogen on-site in the very city centre of Hamburg under daily and line operation requirements set by the public transport company in Hamburg “HOCHBAHN”. The use of electrolysers is tested to integrate renewables into the chaning energy system and to offer large scale energy storage means.
