Hydrogenics GmbH, located in Gladbeck, North Rhine Westphalia, Germany, is a designer, developer and manufacturer of hydrogen fuel cells and electrolyser hydrogen generators for transportation, stationary, industrial, commercial, and renewable energy markets. The product lines include PEM fuel cells and systems, ranging from 2.5 kW to MW scale, and Alkaline and PEM electrolysers ranging from 1 Nm3/h to 1000’s of Nm3/h of hydrogen outputs (5 kW to 100’s Megawatts of input power).
Hydrogenics GmbH is owned, along with its sister company Hydrogenics N.V. in Belgium, by the publicly-traded company Hydrogenics Corporation (NASDAQ:HYGS; TSX:HYG), headquartered in Mississauga (Toronto), Ontario, Canada. Founded in 1995 under the name of ENKAT (Energy Management and Catalysis) GmbH, Hydrogenics GmbH has been part of the Hydrogenics group since 2002.
Hydrogenics GmbH develops PEM technologies for markets in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and selected Asian markets. The German subsidiary also assists its Belgian sister with sales and service for Alkaline electrolyser products in energy storage and transportation sectors, in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
While the PEM fuel cell module subsystems and PEM electrolyser stacks are developed and built in Mississauga, Hydrogenics GmbH’s engineering activities focus on system development from subsystems to complete turnkey systems.
